10 Rock Albums That Artists Want You To Forget About

6. From Genesis to Revelation - Genesis

As the Love Generation quickly started to go out of style, there was a whole slew looking to push the boundaries of what rock would become. Compared to the other heavy acts like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, groups like Yes and King Crimson were expanding the limits of rock music with long songs and detailed instrumental passages which became known as prog rock. Though Genesis were mainstays of the scene, they are pretty ashamed of their first foot forward.

Being a trip into the world of baroque pop, From Genesis to Revelation was the result of these guys getting together back when they were in charter schools making their first attempts at writing songs. Though these aren't half bad for what they are, they certainly don't sound reminiscent of the band who brought you grand epics like Supper's Ready and the entire story behind The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

Given their ignorance of this album in recent years, many tend to put their next album Trespass as the true start of their career, with songs like The Knife capturing their more complex side much better. Even though this initial attempt from these young schoolboys is actually an intriguing listen, some of the band members would gladly take the embarrassing later years of Phil Collins than this misguided album any day of the week.
