10 Rock And Metal Albums From The 2000s The Critics Got Wrong

6. All The Right Reasons - Nickelback (2005)

It’s become a trend to hate on Nickelback. They’ve sold plenty of records, but the band have never been popular with critics. This is understandable given their overreliance on linear song structures and their questionable lyrical content.

But there’s a good reason Nickelback’s fifth record sold so well. Lyrics aside, All the Right Reasons isn’t terrible by any means. The vocal melodies and the choruses have plenty of punch, and there are several surprisingly heavy tracks as well. Both ‘Animals’ and ‘Follow You Home’ have crunching lead riffs that instantly suck you in.

Of course, critics largely hated All the Right Reasons. The album was received negatively by almost everybody, leading to a score of just 41 on Metacritic.

Whilst there’s no denying the album has its flaws, it does provide listeners with a polished mix of hard rock and tender ballads that are fun to listen to provided you don’t pay too much attention to the lyrics.
