10 Rock Bands That Bounced Back From Bad Albums

7. A Moon Shaped Pool - Radiohead

Much of Radiohead's discography has been glossed over by both fans and critics alike that it's hard to even narrow down any bad album in their catalog. Ever since their second record The Bends, the amount of buzz surrounding these alternative rock giants has been nothing short of rapturous. If there is one album that does show them in a misguided light though, it would have to be the King of Limbs.

After trying to experiment with different loop based music, the surprisingly short 8th effort from Radiohead left a lot of fans cold, no matter how much Thom Yorke's dancing helped. Going in a much more grandiose direction for the follow up, a Moon Shaped Pool is what many fans wanted Radiohead to sound like in their old age, being more thoughtful than their previous records while also maintaining their incredibly potent sense of melancholy.

With nearly every other track on this record being a slowburn, this is the kind of mellow rock and roll that can still manage to get under your skin, whether it's the biting strings going through Burn the Witch or even dusting off the live favorite True Love Waits to highlight the overwhelming sense of loss on this record. While Radiohead was known for some more downer themes throughout their career, this is probably the closest they've come to capturing pure melancholy in song.
