10 Rock Bands That Never Made A Bad Album
4. Jimi Hendrix Experience
A musician like Jimi Hendrix is one that you see once every millennium. As soon as he emerged on the scene in the late 60's, he was making bold strides on the electric guitar that signaled the future for the entire genre of rock music. Though Hendrix's time may have been short, his brilliant use of it gave us classics of the genre.
Starting with his debut album Are You Experienced, Hendrix turned the entire concept of blues guitar playing inside out with songs like "Purple Haze" and "Manic Depression," which brought a sonic hostility to the rock world.
Even when Hendrix ended up toning it down on songs like "Little Wing," his delicate touch on the guitar was more emotive than many humans could ever be. By the time he eventually reached his maximum capacity, Electric Ladyland was unleashed upon the world and smashed down any boundaries the electric guitar had, from the funk transcendence of "Voodoo Child" to reinventing Bob Dylan on "All Along the Watchtower."
Just when we thought that Hendrix could give us more, he departed from this plain of existence in the early 70's after asphyxiating in his sleep. We'll never know what Hendrix could have made had he survived, but what we have of his legacy has influenced almost every guitarist who has come after him.
