10 Rock Bands Who Sold Out (But We Love Them Anyway)

3. Bring Me The Horizon

Much like with prog, emo music is either the spawn of the Devil or the spawn of the Devil, but in a good way.

Flying the flag for the British emo scene were Sheffield unit Bring Me the Horizon, who formed in 2004. Through tracks like Throne, Sleepwalking, and Shadow Moses, this shouty lot found legions of fans who would have probably committed murder if Oli Sykes asked them to.

So imagine how devastated all those teenagers in black eye makeup must have felt when Bring Me the Horizon released an electronic album in 2015.

To be fair, That's the Spirit isn't entirely an electronic album; it just incorporates more of those sounds than the band had done previously. However, when you're a hardcore metalhead, even a second of electro is usually too much electro.

The band veered even further into the mainstream with 2019's Amo, teaming up with artists like Machine Gun Kelly, Sigrid, and Ed Sheeran. Ed Sheeran? With the band that did Shadow Moses? Dear God...

Still, if you were a fan of these guys back in the day, chances are you've forgiven them for these transgressions.

Emo never dies, after all.
