10 Rock Cover Songs Better Than The Original

6. Guns N' Roses: Live And Let Die (Paul McCartney)

Okay, firstly lets start by acknowledging how brilliant the original Paul McCartney version of this song is. 'Live and Let Die' might be the best Bond theme ever written, excluding maybe Alicia Keys & Jack White's 'Another Way to Die'... , okay and maybe Adele's 'Skyfall'. The point is, it's a damn good song.

If any band was going to take on the ambitious task of covering one of McCartney's greatest arrangements, then it would have to be Guns N' Roses. Axl is the only one with an ego big enough to attempt such a feet, and Slash and the boys are the only musicians talented enough to make it work.

When Axl Rose was coming up with ideas for Use Your Illusion, he and Slash had both mentioned loving the Wings song but were unsure whether or not they could pull it off. Supposedly, Slash tentatively suggested it to the other members during a rehearsal session and before long they'd dialled in the main riff, with the bass and drums arranged around it. The rest is music history.
