10 Rock & Metal Bands Who Fired Their Singer
8. Yes - Jon Anderson
For a band known for their personnel changes, prog legends Yes actually managed to keep a fairly consistent line-up across the years, with vocalist Jon Anderson, guitarist Steve Howe, bassist Chris Squire and drummer Alan White holding their respective positions on most of the band's releases.
But just because you've got something good, doesn't mean you're not willing to give it up for something even better. It seems even Anderson, one of the group's founding members, wasn't safe from the industry's crueller edges. After suffering from bronchitis, stress and exhaustion in the noughties, Anderson found himself lagging on the road and an asthma attack in 2008 led to the cancelling of the Yes 40th anniversary tour.
Ruthless to a fault, and in true Yes tradition, the remaining band members ousted him and took to the road again, first with BenoƮt David and then Jon Davison on vocal duties. Anderson hasn't ruled out working with his mercenary bandmates again, but given their appetite for intensive touring it's not likely we'll see them on the road together anytime soon.
