10 Rock Music Albums Where One Person Plays Everything

7. Into The Wild - Eddie Vedder

2007 saw the release of a film version of the book Into the Wild, which told the story of a man and his journey hiking across America in the 1990s.

The movie was well-received and got nominated for a bunch of awards, including two Oscars. It didn't win any of those, but Guaranteed from its soundtrack was given the Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

As well as scoring the story of the movie, this album also acted as the debut solo release or Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder. A former collaborator with the film's director, Sean Penn, Vedder was hand-selected for this role and took his new responsibilities very seriously.

Aside from one guitar part on the song Society, Vedder handles all the musical duties on Into the Wild on his lonesome. He sings, plays guitar, and drums, whilst also contributing work on the organ, the mandolin, and the banjo.

Ah yes, the banjo, that most famous of grunge instruments.

Considering this was his first ever solo piece, Vedder should get huge credit for taking on so many different tasks. The fact that he only won one lousy Golden Globe for his efforts is a tad insulting.
