10 Rock Music Songs That Were Almost Never Released
6. Creep - Radiohead
It might be the song that started it all for Radiohead, but man do they hate Creep.
Thom Yorke told Rolling Stone in 1993 that "It's like it's not our song any more... It feels like we're doing a cover" in reference to how many times the band had played the song during its early days. This resentment could have all been avoided, had they just not listened to their producers.
Sean Slade and Paul Q. Kolderie were working with the band one day when they started playing Creep, a song they had never planned to record. At Slade and Kolderie's insistence, it got laid down, and the rest is history.
Creep was released as the first single from Radiohead's debut album, Pablo Honey, and after initially failing to make a splash, it quickly took over the world. Now, it has over 1.3 billion streams on Spotify and is by far and away their biggest seller.
The band have softened their stance on the song in recent years, slipping it back into the setlist on their most recent tours, but please don't make it the only thing you talk to them about. They won't be happy.
