10 Most Rock N' Roll Things That Have Ever Happened

10. Ozzy Osbourne Being Banned From San Antonio

Ozzy has always been the poster boy for excess in the rock world. His entire career up until the mid 90s was a blur of drink and drugs and he's had his fair share of controversial scrapes, but the events leading up to him being banned from the San Antonio in Texas are by far the craziest. In 1982, Ozzy was due to perform in San Antonio on his Diary Of A Madman tour. After a significant amount of time partying and a bust up with his manager/future wife Sharon (where she had hidden his clothes, no less), he found himself wandering around the area, drunk out of his skull and wearing a dress. When nature called he decided to answer up against a building, which turned out to be a cenotaph in memorial of those who had died in battle at The Alamo in the 19th century. So, to recap, that's a man from Birmingham - heavily intoxicated - urinating on a symbol of Texan independence, in the middle of the day while wearing a dress. His arrest was unsurprising, to say the least. However, his time in San Antonio went further downhill, as after being released on bail Ozzy went onto perform that night. The concert was a sellout and people had been getting rather agitated at their inability to get tickets for the performance. Some disgruntled fans started throwing rocks and before anyone knew it, a riot had broken out, with 24 people arrested and afterwards the local authorities decided they'd had enough; banning Ozzy and his band from San Antonio all together. He wasn't allowed back in the town until the early 90s when he made a sizeable donation to the charity that maintains The Alamo, in restitution for his bad behaviour.
