10 Rock Singers Who Fronted Two Great Bands

It's one thing to front two great bands during your career. It's another to pull double duty, and front two great bands at the same time. And it's something else entirely when you serve as frontman for three separate groups, all at the same time. In that, Tool's Maynard James Keenan - also frontman for A Perfect Circle and Puscifer - is practically unparalleled.

Of course, Tool's long breaks between albums and intermittent touring schedule helps to allow for this, but the fact that Keenan is able to pull this off - and that all three bands have been successful - speaks volumes. There aren't many other artists who would even attempt it (Dave Grohl would be one, but he tends to leave the frontman duties to others in his side projects).

Which band you prefer is a matter of taste, but all have their merits. Tool is a multi-platinum progressive rock/metal band at the top of their genre; A Perfect Circle also a multi-platinum act and something of a supergroup featuring James Iha of The Smashing Pumpkins and Billy Howerdel (Ashes Divide). Puscifer remains the odd child, and is essentially a revolving cast supporting Maynard - but still very much worth a listen.

It's a heck of a lot of effort - but Keenan has managed it beautifully.
