10 Scariest Tracks In Hard Rock

4. Daddy - Korn

Korn's rapid ascent into the mainstream with their debut album helped kickstart the nu-metal movement back in the mid-90's. Even if some of the more whiny bands of the day look like crybabies in retrospect, "Daddy" is one of the most foreboding songs of the era, with an absolutely heartbreaking backstory.

Starting off as an initial collection of riff ideas, frontman Jonathan Davis used the song as a platform to release some of his demons. Davis had a horrible experience of being molested as a child and not being believed by his parents when telling them about it. Throughout the song, Davis seems to be on the verge of a complete emotional breakdown, as he expresses his frustration of not being heard and his condemnation of his abuser.

According to the other members, the initial recording of the track ended with everyone joining in a group hug around Davis to get him to calm down. Due to its intense subject matter, the band have always been somewhat candid when discussing the song and have only performed it live a handful of times. With all the ominous instrumentals and physical toll it took on the members, "Daddy" stands as one of nu-metal's most tortured songs.
