10 Songs That Inspired Dance Crazes

4. Migos - Look At My Dab

It’s no secret that the dab, in which a person drops their head into their arm whilst raising their arms at a 30-degree angle was popularised by the Atlanta Hip-Hop group, The Migos.

The origin of the dance is still widely debated with it appearing in manga, anime and other Atlanta artists such as Skippa Da Flippa and Rich the Kid claiming its invention. Despite its debated origin, Migos' track "Look at my dab" certainly brought the move into the mainstream featuring the dab dance repeatedly in their music video. Before the official video release, the Migos released an accidental music video with Mass Appeal stating that "dabbing is a way of fashion".

Since rising to national prominence in 2015, the dab has been taken on by other music artists, included in athlete celebrations and even taken on by politicians with Hilary Clinton dabbing on the Ellen Degeneres show during her 2016 election campaign.

Whatever the origin, "Look at my dab" helped popularise dabbing into American popular culture which has since become viral through social media platforms and is now a well-established dance move.
