5. Man On The Moon R.E.M.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hKSYgOGtos There is so much happening in this song all at once. Frontman Michael Stipe addresses Andy Kaufman with numerous characters and events that, it would seem, the singer deems arguable. The lyrics invoke all sorts of conspiracy theories like those to do with the Moon landing and Elvis' death, amongst others, only to neglect them with a sarcastic "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah..." Stipe's reluctance culminates when he says that nothing is cool if you believe they put a man on the Moon". This track works well on various different levels, one of them being as an ode to Andy Kaufman himself, a mysterious character who loved deceit and make-believe. Apart from reminding us of all the paranoia that surrounded the Moon landing of 1969, this song ultimately gave Andy Kaufman's biopic its title.
