MGMT's Kids came out in 2008 and quickly established itself as an upbeat Summer sing-a-long sensation. Even though it was released in October.
In 2009, the song got a proper music video about 18 months after a fan uploaded a lip-synched version to YouTube. Whilst that video was pretty low budget, at least it wasn't utterly terrifying.

Seriously, these guys are horrible to look at. No wonder the kid is in tears! Most adults would cry if they saw those things sneaking up behind them.
It's supposed to be a comment on how unattentive the boy's mother is - how she doesn't see all these thing tormenting her son even though their in plain sight - but did MGMT really have to give us all nightmares to make this point?
