9. The Whole Metallica Thing

Ah, yes €“ the Metallica thing. Every Megadeth fan knows a Metallica fan who just won't let the whole thing go. In debates over the merits of both bands, certain Metallica fans will default to the response: So what? Dave is just bitter he's not in Metallica.

Maybe that's true. There have been several instances throughout the band's lengthy career when Dave has shown that Metallica are very much still on his mind. The attempt at producing a more radio-friendly sound on Risk was very much in response to Metallica's commercial success.
