10 Things You Didn't Know About Amanda Palmer

3. She's A Playwright

In addition to her musical career, Palmer has been involved in a variety of stage and film productions as both a performer and a writer. She created independent, one-off shows throughout her time at college. These projects were often funded out of her own pocket, or with the help of friends and fellow classmates.

Palmer's first major play, The Onion Cellar, was produced in 2005. The play was loosely based on a chapter of Günter Grass's novel The Tin Drum in which people gather in an underground club to share their sorrows. In addition to writing much of the script, Amanda appeared as part of the house band of the bar in which the play was set.

More recently, Palmer helped create The Bed Show, a play based on the Bed Song, a single released in her most recent album. Like the original song, the play dealt with the different stages that relationships go through over time. The show was performed at Bard College in 2014. The play was created mainly through the assistance of the university€™s drama department, and almost all of the roles were played by students or local young people.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
