10 Things You Didn't Know About The Beatles

8. George Harrison Was Stabbed 40 Times (Because He Was 'The Devil')

Rock n' roll has always said to be the Devil's music, and apparently some people took that statement to heart.

On 30 December 1999, Michael Abram, a man with schizophrenia, broke into Harrison's home. Abram claimed he was attempting to rid the world of the Devil, as he believed The Beatles were part of a satanic cult, with Harrison at their head. According to Harrison's wife, the man was branding a knife in one hand and a stick in the other, screaming about his intention.

As it turns out, Harrison was not Satan but in fact a student of Eastern spiritualism. He began chanting very loudly at his attacker to try to scare him, but this only encouraged the man to charge. After a prolonged struggle, Harrison's wife, Olivia, managed to beat the attacker off with a poker. The authorities were called and Abram was arrested.

George Harrison's wounds included laceration to his limbs and a punctured lung, but he miraculously made a full recovery. During the time of the attack, Harrison was already battling cancer and died several years later in 2001.
