10 Times Kanye West THOUGHT He Blew Your Mind

9. On Avoiding Books... But Not Really

"If you read books €” which I don't, none at all €” about how to become a billionaire, they always say, 'You learn more from your mistakes.' So if you learn from your mistakes, then I'm a f*cking genius." "Sometimes people write novels and they just be so wordy and so self-absorbed. I am not a fan of books. I would never want a book's autograph. I am a proud non-reader of books."
There aren't too many people who are proud of their own ignorance to this same extent, which is a good thing for all of humanity. Saying the phrase "I am not a fan of books" is one thing, but to follow it up by declaring you're quite pleased with yourself for avoiding them is another thing entirely. (It's stupid. Don't say that, kids.) He suggests also that these books everyone keeps talking about (which he definitely doesn't read), particularly those that help you gain great wealth (which he definitely doesn't need), all share a common theme: You learn more from your mistakes than your successes. And he's made so many mistakes that he's now one of the smartest people on the planet. BUT NOT SO FAST KANYE. If you don't read books, how do you know that's a common theme? Do other people just constantly want to discuss money-management self-help books with you? And how do you trust they're telling the truth, Kanye? HUH? Mind = unblown.
