10 Weird Backwards Messages In Rock Songs

9. Nature Trail to Hell - Weird Al

There are more than enough religious fanatics that are convinced that rock and rollers are trying to sell your soul to the devil with every song they sing. Once backmasking became a thing though, this was the ticket that the nutcases needed to go absolutely crazy with it, with everyone from Led Zeppelin to The Beatles being accused of some heinous behavior that they admitted to. When you start to make the same accusations with Weird Al, that's where you need to draw the line.

Granted, it's not like Weird Al wasn't aware of the more outlandish stuff happening with backwards music, so he figured that he throw his hat into the ring in Nature Trail to Hell. The title alone would have probably rubbed some people the wrong way back in the day, but the actual backwards messages in the song are the kind of humor that only someone like Weird Al could pull off.

Although he could have easily just thrown together a bunch of meaningless pieces of words together, the backwards message amounts to him saying "you must have a lot of free time on your hands." Such is the nature of Weird Al's penchant for comedy in his music. He might not have to be taken all that seriously, but he can also be a little bit cheeky when he wants to.
