10 Worst Number One Rock Albums Of The 1990s

4. Hell Freezes Over - Eagles

The reason why Eagles' 1994 album was called Hell Freezes Over is because that's what people thought had happened when the band announced they were reforming.

The Southern Rock giants' initial run had ended in disaster, as members Don Felder and Glenn Frey fell out so badly, they almost had a fistfight on stage. Now, after sitting out the entire 80s, they were back... with a pretty disappointing live album.

Alongside 11 recordings from an MTV special in 1994, Hell Freezes Over also came with four new studio recordings; Get Over It; Love Will Keep Us Alive; The Girl From Yesterday; and Learn to Be Still. None of them were particularly great, with most of them sounding like they'd been airlifted directly out of the mid-70s.

As for the live stuff, the band had definitely seen better days. Older fans had already heard songs like Take It Easy and Hotel California performed to a much higher standard, and as for any new fans, well, let's face it, this album attracted zero new fans.

A nice piece of rock history, but other than that, Hell Freezes Over left everyone feeling cold.
