10 Worst Songs To Ever Reach Number 1 In The UK

1. Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby (1990)

Is there anything worse in music than a bad song that effectively takes a good song into its overall equation? That's the case here with Vanilla Ice's quasi-eponymous hit, the first hip-hop song to top the charts in the USA.

It may have been a history-maker, but the march of time has not been kind to what is now very much seen as a novelty song, one that takes the bassline from Queen and David Bowie's seminal hit Under Pressure and builds over it with all the decorum of a dog attempting to eat its dinner while bouncing on a trampoline.

Yet the UK record books escaped a marginally worse fate than this - in 2010, The X Factor contestants Jedward released a mashup of the two songs featuring Vanilla Ice. It managed to only hit number two though, held off by the efforts of Owl City with their hit Fireflies.
