10 Worst Villains Of Rock And Roll Music
5. Pat Boone
For as long as music fans have been around, there are always going to be people who say that the music was a lot better back in their day. They probably have a fair point as well, considering that the power behind the greatest music in the world has the power to transcend its time and become iconic no matter when it was released. Unless they're fans of Pat Boone...in which case they're dead wrong.
At a time when rock and roll was finding its sea legs, Pat Boone seemed indicative of everything wrong with rock and roll, taking the songs of Little Richard and turning them into the most bland music ever made. While Elvis gets the credit (or the blame) for co-opting the songs of Chuck Berry and Little Richard, the King looks great compared to what Pat did with them, making songs that sound so squeaky clean you can practically eat off of them.
No better is this portrayed than on his "metal" album, where he tries to make an attempt at a heavier sound and comes off like every single dad in the world trying to fit in with what his kids are listening to. Since rock has always been the source of escape from the stresses of the world, Pat Boone is music made for people who have never experienced a problem in their entire lives.
