11 Best Iron Maiden Epics

10. If Eternity Should Fail

Heralded by mystic, quasi-pantomime flashes of synthesisers and built on a rock-steady groove, the opening cut from 2015's The Book of Souls was penned by Dickinson and captures the back arguably in their most rollicking strut of the reunion era.

It stands out from the Maiden canon as the only band the song have recorded in drop-D tuning, a source of much debate between fans following the reveal - but its sense of exploratory swagger is a perfect way to kick this album into gear.
