11 Great Things In Metal This Week (11th Dec)

1. Gojira, Periphery, Megadeth, Baroness And Korn Receive 2017 Grammy Nominations

And finally, the nominations for the 2017 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance were revealed this week. And (as far as the infamously anti-metal Grammys go, at least) it's a pretty damn great line-up!

Up for the grand prize are Korn with "Rotting in Vain", Megadeth's "Dystopia", Gojira and "Silvera", Periphery's single "The Price Is Wrong" and (to my pleasant surprise) "Shock Me", the 2015 track from sludge rockers Baroness.

It's no secret that Gojira is probably my favourite band of all time, but I really, really want Baroness to take the grand prize. Even though it'll probably just fall to the well-known Korn or Megadeth (two bands that don't need a Grammy on the shelf to validate their legacy), Baroness would take the award and use it to catapult themselves to the stratosphere. Imagine the hype such a prize could build up for their upcoming fifth album.

It's hugely unlikely, but I can dream, dammit!
