7. Devilment - II: The Mephisto Waltzes
The side-project of notorious Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth, the extreme British juggernaut Devilment unleashed its sophomore album this Friday: the enigmatically titled II: The Mephisto Waltzes.
Inhabiting the limbo between black metal, symphonic rock and the '80s' New-Wave of British Metal, The Mephisto Waltzes is a record that conjures forth images of horror movies thanks to the band's use of numerous backing, industrially-inclined techniques, homages and the gritty vocals of (the aptly named) Filth.
Based upon the German legend of Faust (Google it), the album is one that sounds like pure evil, tapping into the true, dark nature that lies at the core of all metal. If you're a fan of Dani's work in Cradle of Filth, Devilment is more than worth a glance.
