8. The History Of Apple Pie
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_lcoWhgiu8 Given that The Horrors' guitarist Joshua Hayward had a part in the creation and production of their debut album 'Out of View', The History of Apple Pie should now be on their way to wider mainstream success and festival headlining, much like Hayward's own group. Unfortunately though, that isn't the case, and THOAP have had to put up with being unsung noise-rock heroes, and make do with the small underground following they have. That's no bad thing. Their gigs are a regular who's who of indie heroes, tastemakers, and people generally in the know. But it's the stark reality that their music, designed so perfectly for 50,000 people to jump and sing along to in a field at Reading & Leeds or Glastonbury, is simply not being heard by the wider audience that it deserves. Their own brand of alternative rock, comparable to names as far afield as Pavement, Neu!, and Best Coast, just simply hasn't been able to latch onto the mainstream just yet. With a new album due in 2014, hopefully THOAP will continue to deliver the kind of raucous yet sparkling psychedelic indie that they have mastered so well over the past couple of years, and attract the masses that would make the likes of 'See You' and 'Mallory' so perfect for a warm festival's afternoon.
