11 Songs With Hidden Meanings

1. James Blunt - You're Beautiful

The British singer’s biggest hit was released in 2005 and is featured in his debut album Back to Bedlam. Often considered a love song, the true meaning is far from romantic.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, James Blunt remarked, “Everyone goes, ‘Ah, he’s so romantic. I want ‘You’re beautiful’ as my wedding song.’ These people are f*cked up”.

His blunt comment may seem bizarre, but the song is actually about a stalker who is on drugs. The man, while high, is on the subway stalking a girl who is with her boyfriend.

The commonly misinterpreted lyrics were inspired by a real-life event. James Blunt was at the London Underground when he saw his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend – about whom Blunt was unaware.

The ex-lovers locked eyes and never saw each other again.
