12 Brutal Times Famous Musicians Attacked Their Own Fans

1. Axl Rose

No list about prima donnas throwing tantrums could be complete without the most egotistical man in rock: Axl Rose. There are many incidents of him flipping out and storming offstage, including at Rock In Rio 2001 when he had security eject a fan wearing a Slash t-shirt and during a Newcastle UK set in 2008 when he stopped the show early due to a penny hitting bass player Tommy Stinson. He's fallen out with pretty much everyone he's ever worked with, shown up to practically every show at least an hour late (usually more) and has a string of tumultuous relationships with women. But only once has Rose incited an entire riot with his onstage actions. During a 1991 performance in St. Louis, Rose demanded that security take a camera away from an audience member. When his request was not IMMEDIATELY fulfilled, he dived headlong into the audience, jumped on the offender and snatched it himself. Climbing back onto the stage, Rose declared the show over - blaming the security for their ineptitude. Guns N' Roses left the arena, and the crowd rioted. The stadium was torn apart (over $1 million worth of damage was done), 60 people were seriously injured and Rose was charged with (but never convicted of) inciting a riot. Proof that one man's ego can cause immeasurable chaos. Still, at least the singer was repentant about the incident. In the liner notes to Use Your Illusion, he wrote a sincere and sensitive apology to the people that had come to cheer on him and his band: "F*ck you, St. Louis". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOXDbMne6Ek
