12 Greatest Ever Hard Rock Solo Artists
7. Slash
It was a sad day for the entire rock community when Slash announced that he was leaving Guns N Roses. Without their legendary six-stringer, Guns N Roses were poised for disaster with their next project. Even if the old band was on shaky ground, people were waiting with baited breath to see what the top-hat wearing phenomenon would give us next.
First sprouting out with his solo outfit Slash's Snakepit, much of Slash's early material was chasing the same street punk rock and roll that GNR was known for. After a few tumultuous years working in Velvet Revolver, Slash finally reversed his session man process and made a record with an array of different singers, which made for one of the most interesting guitar albums of the 2010's.
As the years went on though, Slash's work with Myles Kennedy was so well-received that he eventually put together a new band under his solo name and tours when Kennedy is on leave from Alter Bridge. In contrast to the work done with Mark Tremonti and co., this band also gives Kennedy an opportunity to flex his chops as a down-and-dirty rock frontman. Even when he isn't with GNR, you can be sure that anything Slash is involved with is up to his standard of balls-to-the-wall rock and roll.
