12 Hard Rock Band Members Who Switched Instruments
10. Trent Reznor - Nine Inch Nails
For any kid into heavy music, chances are you've come across Nine Inch Nails more than a few times. The band's brilliant use of digital effects and ominous tones have made for some of the most haunting records of the 90's from the Downward Spiral to the Fragile. The sound is so dense across every track that many people tend to forget that it's all coming from just one guy.
Throughout each NIN record, Trent Reznor is the overseer who guides the songs where they need to go. Instead of starting out on a guitar or singing first, Reznor was actually given the piano as his main instrument of choice. While there have been very few hard rock pianists in the world, Reznor showed the power behind the keyboard by putting in samples and effects that made you feel like you were slowly being pulled down to Hell.
Over time, Reznor stepped back from behind the producer's chair and started to sing, where he unveiled a shout that tapped into a more primal part of his psyche. From ripping off a solo on guitar to making the densest record production known to man, Trent Reznor is the true all-arounder when it comes to hard rock musicians.
