12 Most Divisive Rock Albums Of All Time

3. Be Here Now - Oasis

Oasis were on top of the world during the late 90's. After the band's monumental breakthrough release Definitely Maybe, the Gallagher brothers had done the unthinkable by recapturing the magic again with What's the Story Morning Glory. It may have been a decent challenge trying to make lightning strike a third time, but Be Here Now tends to be called both a misfire and a masterpiece by the fanbase.

Right off the bat, the album is too long, with the radio-friendly songs of the band's previous records replaced with rock and roll dirges that go well beyond 5 minutes. Though songs like "All Around the World" have the makings of a great tune, the charm of the melody tends to wear out its welcome after the 4th runthrough of the chorus.

At the same time, some of Oasis' best tracks turn up on this record like the tearjerker "Don't Go Away" or "I Hope I Think I Know," which is the closest they come to a power pop stomper on the record. This record has gone from being heralded as the band's best to being called the album that killed Britpop, but overall the quality of the record falls just between those two extremes.
