12 Most Hated Classic Rock Songs (On Great Albums)
1. Revolution 9 - The Beatles
There are many rock fans who claim that the Beatles had a perfect career, and there are more than a few arguments to support that claim. From their moptop early days to the band's experimental later work, the Fabs were true originals who paved the way for what a rock band could be on a mainstream level.
Though albums like Sgt. Pepper's and Abbey Road tend to be heralded as classics, the rough and tumble nature of the White Album has made it one of the most revered double albums of all time. The entire album feels like the four creative minds of the Beatles working separately to create solo songs under the band's name. The album seems to be flawless, but the penultimate track is certainly a change of pace for the group.
The single "Revolution" had already been a B-side for the Hey Jude single, but John Lennon refigured an earlier take of the song into an avant garde experimental piece with the help of his love Yoko Ono. Lennon insisted on the track going on the album, much to Paul McCartney's dismay. The rock world may have been excited to hear any experiment the Beatles attempted, but "Revolution 9" is known as the one song on The White Album that everyone skips.
