12 Perfect Classic Rock Albums With NO Bad Songs

11. 1984 - Van Halen

You can't really make a good tribute to the classics of rock and roll and not include Van Halen somewhere in the mix. Ever since the late '70s, the David Lee Roth era of the band remains on the god tier of glam metal and set the format for what the party rock sound would be going forward. Even when this lineup was heading towards a brick wall, they still managed to turn everything into gold on 1984.

You wouldn't have been saying that when it was released though, since a lot of the hardened metalheads were getting upset that a single like Jump had such a poppy slant to it. That doesn't mean that the chops from these guys have gone anywhere, with Eddie having an absolute field day on this record alongside his brother. Whereas the singles like I'll Wait and Jump still have strong melodies, Panama and Hot For Teacher is Van Halen at their most concentrated form, bringing together amazing licks with some of the biggest musical earworms of their career.

Think about this for a second: even with the amount of quality on display here, Eddie still found time to drop in another classic solo for Michael Jackson's Beat It during the production. Some bands only get this kind of magic to happen once, but when you have it happen this well, that's something that you want to cherish forever.
