2. Serge & Charlotte Gainsbourg - Lemon Incest
Videos like Only, Hard Out Here and Blurred Lines may be stupid, but there is only one clip on this list that is genuinely utterly discomfiting to watch: Serge Gainsbourg's collaboration with his daughter Charlotte, Lemon Incest. If the title alone isn't enough to raise the eyebrows of everyone reading this (a supposedly "hilarious" French pun on the similarities of the phrases "un zeste de citron" and "inceste de citron"), then the video's content should do the trick... The then-twelve year old Charlotte sings highly suggestibly about a sexual relationship with an adult (with paedophilia being fairly dodgy fare for a pop song anyway...), but in the video the themes stretch beyond this and into images that reflect the incest referenced in the title. Serge climbs into bed with his daughter, gazing at her longingly and actually kissing her. Yes, Serge Gainsbourg effectively engages in the most obvious act of on-screen incest in music history with his twelve-year old daughter. The mind-boggles. It is so uncomfortable to watch.
