Way back in 2012, Taylor Swift disappointed many fans with her assertion that she wasnt a feminist because she didnt think of life as guys vs. girls, something which many people still think of as the basis of feminism. However earlier this year, the Swift came out as a full-on feminist and maintained that she always had been, even if she hadn't realised it. Whilst were not trying to get into a feminist debate here, a lot of people dont think of feminism as simply wanting men and women to have equal rights and opportunities, which is the feminism that Swift speaks of. When Taylor Swift embraced the word feminism, she also embraced speaking out - for everybody. She began cheering on all people who live life on their own terms (her words), and so setting a great example of what we should all be doing, whether we identify as feminists or not.
