https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-UXk42ZY4o It's not at all surprising that Thom Yorke has so far swerved Spotify with his solo material and side projects, considering he called the service 'the last desperate fart of a dying corpse' back in 2013. A significant portion of his Radiohead material is there for fans to stream, but Yorke seems far more principled when it comes to stuff with his own name on:
"I feel like as musicians we need to fight the Spotify thing. I feel that in some ways what's happening in the mainstream is the last gasp of the old industry. Once that does finally die, which it will, something else will happen."
Yorke was always happy to talk about the next steps for technology and music, but he seems to be scared of what happens when mass audiences become the controllers of music rather than artists (which is understandable considering the whole piracy thing).
