And for a far less politically-charged event, but no less important to rock fans, the band celebrated the birthday of metal idol Lemmy in comical but brilliant fashion. Proving their adoration of the Motorhead front-man (and the band itself), Metallica took to the Whisky-A-Go-Go stage decked out in sunglasses and long black wigs to offer their celebration of his 50th birthday. The set included "Overkill," "Damage Case," "Stone Dead Forever," "Too Late, Too Late," "The Chase Is Better Than the Catch," "We Are the Road Crew" and an "Overkill" reprise, much to Lemmys pleasure.
