10. Patterns
shoegaze/post-pop/indie http://youtu.be/ZS3Yq9vGOMo So, you go to the about section of Patterns' website, just for a bit of background information to help bolster the word count of their spot in your feature, and to give your meanderings some informative significance when you're greeted by this; 'The story of how we met or how we got to this point is unimportant, it fits into a broader narrative that we have no interest in communicating.' Followed by a quote that helps highlight their sentiment; "The philosopher lives, he thinks, then he dies; the rest is pure anecdote" -Jacques Derrida Well, really, it's like they don't want bedroom hacks promoting them to their readership. Wink wink. Nudge nudge. Anyway, the band are from Manchester and they are considerably more keen on creating some of the most dreamy soundscapes you'll hear this year, with their debut Waking Lines, than they are revealing themselves and their history. You know what? I'm completely fine with that. Their debut album is a confident and competent whole that sounds how the view from above the clouds in an aeroplane looks.
