13 Things Only Coheed & Cambria Fans Will Understand

9. There Are Plenty Of Jumping Off Points In The Band's Discography

Despite their reputation as an ultra complex band with a history of making intricately-crafted concept albums, non-fans shouldn't be intimidated about getting into their music. It's okay be overwhelmed by their discography at first, but just know that you don't need to research their ongoing story or start from square one to appreciate their artistry. In fact, you don't even have to listen to the albums in their entirety if that seems to heavy--though I'd certainly recommend doing that at some point, because the track-by-track cohesion and storyline are pretty fantastic. Really, all you need to do is follow your favorite genre and find a song of Coheed's that falls into that category. It shouldn't be too hard, considering they've weaved in and out of heavy metal, prog-rock, pop-punk, hardcore, emo, and alternative during their career. If you can't find something that suits your taste, there's a good chance you're just not a fan of rock music altogether. (If you'd like some recommendations on where to start, feel free to ask me on Twitter. I'll happily suggest a song or an album to fit your tastebuds.)
