12. MS MR
Art pop/synth pop/dark wave
MS MR (pronounced Miss Mister) are sitting just below half way up on the Festival Republic stage, but there's a distinct feeling that that positioning could've been higher, or at least definitely will be next time. The twosome vocalist Lizzy Plapinger and producer Max Hershenow are getting their music heard already, that's for sure; the videos for some of their singles are in the millions of views on YouTube, and they've had songs attached to trailers for Game of Thrones, and featured in Grey's Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars. Yet they're still far from really bothering the mainstream, for the moment. However, if their singles and videos continue to build momentum, alongside their still-only-months-old debut album, and they continue to develop their huge sounding blend of art pop, dark wave and dream pop, that has seen them compared to the likes of Florence and The Machine and Hurts, they're sure to be more than just bothering the mainstream very soon. http://youtu.be/iBBTVuF3_OI
