9. Country Grammar - Nelly

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5qKNlcUwKs The end of 1990s rap music began with the rise of a new rap star in 2000 named Nelly. "Country Grammar (Hot S***)," off Nelly's debut album Country Grammar in 2000, peaked at #7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and held the #1 spot on the U.S. rap charts for most of the year. With this song, Nelly began the trend of rappers rhyming n**** with n**** (yeah Lil Wayne is not to thank for that one); he actually used that rhyme to end six lines in a row in the second verse. Nonetheless, the song was very popular and skyrocketed Nelly to the upper tier of rappers at that time. Nelly is now 39 years old, and like Eminem, he is still rapping. He hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song "Grillz" in 2005 and regained relevance recently due to his collaboration with country duo Florida Georgia Line on the renowned remix of their song "Cruise." What will Nelly think of next?
