14 Things Only Trivium Fans Will Understand

9. Matt & Corey Trading Solos Is Just Absolutely Mind-Blowing

https://youtu.be/P0t3MMoSh3w?t=267 Way before The Avengers proved collaborative efforts could be suitably brilliant, the Roadrunner label gathered together their own team of superstars for the Roadrunner United album. Featuring everyone from Corey Taylor to Max Cavalera and even King Diamond, it was the songs that featured Trivium's touch that truly stood out. Heafy-voiced The End would be the only single from all the recordings, but the real hidden gem was tucked away on In the Fire, where both Matt and Corey could take a step back from worrying about vocal lines, and simply shred the living hell out of their guitars. The twin passages they came up with have everything from whammy bar tricks to pentatonic runs that'd make Kirk Hammett blush, but the really tasty bit comes when the two sync up for a brief - yet extremely fast - run of harmonised notes (coming at 5:44 on the above video). It's metal personified, one of their most underrated recordings and easily some of the most devil horn-throwing material you'll ever lay ears on. Check it out, spread the word, and here's to Matt and Corey showing the world how it's done!
