1. Janis Ian - Between The Lines
It's an often used cliché to describe the voice of a female singer-songwriter as being 'spectral'. The only spirit you could associate Between The Lines with is whisky, and lots of it. Make no mistake, this is a record which is best listened to at 3AM, when your girlfriend has recently dumped you and the your last remaining friend, the bottle of scotch you are already halfway through, is disappearing in a similar fashion. Albums can be unfairly dismissed for a variety of reasons, artists more so. I can't find a single good reason to explain why this collection of heartbreak and loss, and it's author, aren't more highly regarded.
AND THE MOST OVERRATED ALBUM OF ALL TIME...
