Despite having the single greatest stage name in all of music, Astronautalis is just one of a whole heap of ridiculously talented alternative hip hop voices to emerge out the mid-west in recent years with Minnesota being a hot bed for guys and girls who like to buck trends. Andy Bothwell has a freestyle game to match his name, you could even make a very strong case that hes the best out and out freestyler in business taking over that mantle after the unfortunate passing of the enigmatic Eyedea a few years back. Astronautalis spits straight fuego, no chaser. His list of friends is impressively cool as well, with the likes of Justin Vernon, P.O.S and Tegan and Sara lining up to work with the quickest brain and tongue in the wild mid-west. Astronautalis has released several albums over the past few years, all of which have singles that are better than your average bear, but where he really makes his dollars is in his off the cuff freestyles which have garnered legendary status at his live shows. He asks random members of the crowd to throw out random ideas, names and thoughts before building something magical out of them there and then in the coolest parlour game in the world.
