15 Best Foo Fighters Songs

1. Best Of You

171839051 640 Other than being one of everyone's favorite Foo song, it is mine as well. The meaning behind it, the powerful voice, the staccato riff are so overwhelming, bursting with energy and matter of fact. It's a statement song, not a question. I always prefer the Foo's when they go harder, darker. It seems more authentic to me, for some reason, they're not trying to please anyone but themselves. This is a classic example. When they first wrote it, they shelved it, thinking it was not up to par. But then their manager said to not only put it into their album, but make it their debut single. Good choice, John Silva. Dave said about the song: "It's about reaching your potential. Everyone has secrets they keep in their own head about themselves, and we rarely confront those secrets. It's a self reflecting song: "Is someone getting the best, the best, the best of you" could be interpreted as asking yourself a question you don't really want to think about." Ain't that the truth. Prince performed this at the 2007 Super Bowl halftime show. Dave said about the surprising tribute: ''Having been a massive Prince fan my whole life, I was flattered beyond words. What an honor to be covered by one of your heroes." I wanted to end by choosing my favorite part of the lyrics, but it's all so spectacular, I can't. This is the best of the Foo's, until their next album, of course, coming in 2014...

Born in Israel, but raised partly in the UK, Shira is rather an odd duck. She will get in your face with her opinion, but will then be super polite to the waitress serving her a cocktail, no matter how bad the service is. Movies are her passion, along with good TV, music, and Shakespeare. She loves to sing and goes to karaoke a lot, too. She will do anything creative, and will resort to finger painting if necessary. Shira also, apparently, enjoys writing about herself in third person, which is weird. But she just finished her first Fantasy novel, and it's not about her, so that's ok. Shira is very glad to be a part of WhatCulture!
