14. Ithaca - The Language Of Injury

British mob Ithaca unleashed The Language of Injury back in February, crushing all in their path with fire and complexity, having put their name to 31 exhilarating minutes of mathy intensity fit to stoke any heavy music fan's rage.

Djamila Yasmin Azzouz's wrenching, impassioned vocals, the wild time signature changes, and furious riff after riff after goddamn riff assault are what first catch the attention on The Language of Injury, though it all serves the music. The band's songcraft is mightily impressive, and quieter moments like "CLSR's" softer passages resonate strongly as a result, providing a welcome reprieve from the breathless mayhem surrounding them.
