1. Tooth And Nail (1984) - Dokken
This album is regarded by many to be the best hair metal album of all time. I have to say that I agree with those people. It's one of those albums that just gets everything right. The songs are melodic and catchy, while still retaining heaviness, and the album cover is bad-ass. But what is it that really sets this album apart from the rest? Two words: George Lynch. Hands down, the best guitarist there ever was in the genre. The monster riffs he wrote for the title track, Don't Close Your Eyes and When Heaven Comes Down are some of the best in not just hair metal, not just metal in general, but all of rock music. And I'm not even going to talk about the solos. Nothing I could say would do them justice. But of course, that's not to say that the rest of the band leaves something to be desired. Everyone on this album gives a great performance. Don Dokken's voice is the perfect amount of softness and gruff that hair metal dreams are made of. And, lets not forget the rhythm section. This album would be nothing without bassist Jeff Pilson and drummer "Wild" Mick Brown. And yeah, I let this album play all the way to the end when I fire it up. If you don't own this album, you need to run out and get yourself a copy. You won't regret it.
