15 Greatest Pop Punk Albums Of The 2000s

8. Brand New - Your Favorite Weapon

Before taking the stylistic leap into post-hardcore, Brand New excited the Warped Tour crowd with an album stuffed with catchy, hearts-on-sleeves anthems that weren't afraid to get really creative with their kiss-offs to ex-girlfriends. So much delicious vitriol! (One standout line: "Have another drink and drive yourself home / I hope there's ice on all the roads.")

The tone of the album shifts wildly throughout the album, proving the band was likely more focused on putting their best collection of songs together rather than trying to develop songs around one given theme. It makes for a somewhat disjointed listening experience, but when it hits, it hits hard.

More downtrodden tunes like "Soco Amaretto Lime" primed listeners for the emo half of their near-perfect follow-up album, while fan favorites "Jude Law and a Semester Abroad" and "Seventy Times 7" simply juice up the sounds of what were happening in the scene at the time.

Your Favorite Weapon doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it does give that wheel some surprisingly deep grooves and some sharp-looking hubcaps.
