15 Greatest Rock Concept Albums From The Last 15 Years

3. Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf

Admittedly only a concept album by the loosest of definitions, Songs For the Deaf takes listeners on a sonic drive from Los Angeles to the Mojave Desert, "tuning" you into various radio stations from the cities they pass along on the way. It's basically a road trip with one of the greatest rock bands in recent history. Beginning with an announcement from L.A.'s fictional Clone Radio, who "play the songs that sound more like everyone else...than anyone else," the cheesy drive-time DJ segues into the face-melting "You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire." They don't simply offer up a few stoner rock anthems, they conquer the idea of dessert rock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnYTueot4HU Grohl observed that Songs for the Deaf was a concept album, but didn€™t say whether the new QOTSA record €” which also features Trent Reznor €” will follow suit.
